บันทึกโปรเจ็คน้องฝึกงาน ตอนที่ 1

จากการที่ผมได้รับน้องฝึกงานคนแรกของผมที่เดินทางมาไกลจากประเทศฝรั่งเศส น้องคนนี้มีชื่อว่าแฟรงค์ครับ และแฟรงค์ได้มีส่วนร่วมกับคอลเลคชั่นใหม่ของ Flo หลายชิ้น โดยตัวแฟรงค์เองไม่ได้เป็นนักออกแบบโดยตรง แต่เรียนมาทางงานเฟอร์นิเจอร์ไม้โดยเฉพาะเลยครับ จึงมีความเป็นช่าง และมีความรู้เรื่องไม้และกรรมวิธีการผลิตเป็นอย่างดี เพราะที่ประเทศฝรั่งเศสเอง ก็มีองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับเฟอร์นิเจอร์อยู่อย่างมาก
โปรเจกแรกที่เราร่วมกันทำจึงอยากจะนำเสนอเรื่องนี้ครับ คือเรื่องของกรรมวิธีการผลิต ซึ่งเน้นไปที่การเข้าไม้ หรือ Joint ซึ่งเป็นจุดที่สำคัญมากในการทำเฟอร์นิเจอร์ เพราะเกี่ยวข้องโดยตรงกับความแข็งแรงทนทาน และต้องใช้ทักษะและความชำนาญในการทำ แต่ในขณะเดียวกัน การเข้าไม้นั้นอาจะถูกมองข้ามไปบ้าง เนื่องจากอยู่ในจุดที่มองไม่เห็น หรือไม่ได้ถูกเน้นขึ้นมา
เราจึงอยากจะลองทำชิ้นงานที่สามารถสื่อสารความงามของการต่อไม้ ให้เข้าถึงผู้คนได้อย่างเป็นมิตรมากขึ้น โดยไอเดียของแฟรงค์คือทำเป็นของเล่น ซึ่งออกแบบมาเป็นรูปของลูกนกน้อยๆ ที่ให้ความรู้สึกน่าจับต้องและใกล้ชิดผู้คนมากขึ้น อีกทั้งกระบวนการที่ขึ้นรูปนั้น (การกลึง) จะขับเน้นให้ข้อต่อมีรูปร่างที่สวยงามขึ้นอีกด้วย

Trainee Project Journal Part 1
Franck is our first trainee. He came a long way from France. He got involved with many items of our new collection. Franck currently study in cabinet making (furniture making) which makes he has a lot of knowledge about making wooden furniture from the starting point such as select to wood to the very end process like vanishing. Even though he didn't study directly in design field, but he learned very fast with passion and can deliver a good work.
The first project we did was about presenting one of the most important things in the woodworking, which is the joint. Joint is the part that involved directly to the strength of the furniture and it require a high skill to make it perfect. However, sometimes the joint can be look over because it maybe hidden in the back of furniture or it didn't had been emphasize.
We would like to create a work that represent the beauty of wood joint and make it easier to connect with people. Franck's idea is to create a toy in the shape of little birds, which is feel friendly and cute. Also the way to create the shape of bird will emphasize the uniqueness of the joint too.
